So I did my first time trial bike race this morning at the Estacada Time Trial.
A 20 mile time trial ride. There was a fresh blanket of snow on the
ground, but the road looked only wet. I think I got hit with every
combination of preciptiation - snow, rain, hail, sleet, freezing rain
and rain - but never for more than a few minutes at a time.
My
legs felt fried from yesterday's 50 mile ride around Sauvie's Island. I
thought a flat ride the day before would be fine, but I ran into some
serious wind in a hailstorm out there that reduced my efforts to 8mph.
It was the hamstrings. It always the quads when I bike, but now I have
a time trial bike, could that be the issue? Maybe I need to get fitted
on the bike since my hamstrings felt destroyed? Or maybe my quads were
fried so the only thing left was the hamstrings.
Despite the weather and the fried legs, I enjoyed the experience. Only 9 weeks to the Ironman Coeur D'Alene I signed up for. I better get stronger on the bike in a hurry.
Beautiful cold
